Now Available: 30-60-90 Day Plan!
I am very excited to introduce the sixth tool in my FREE resource library this week: my 30-60-90 Day Plan. I’ve used a version of this tool throughout my career in management, and am making this version available to you, dear reader, for FREE!
The main goal of this 30-60-90 day plan is to give your new employees a roadmap for the first three months at your company. A lot of us forget how disorienting it can be to start a new job, and I have found that having a tool like this helps do several things…
First, it helps you get organized in advance of your employee’s start date. It’s a great way for you to think through everything and everyone you want your employee to meet, learn or do within their first three months, and it can help you load-balance and make sure you’re not starting them off too fast or too slow.
Second, it helps your new employee feel like they are building momentum. Once they start, the intention is that you’ll have THEM keep track of their progress, so with every box they check off, they will see that they are building the path of their career at your organization.
Third, it helps both of you have meaningful conversations. The third part of each section is called “Get Ideas,” and it’s literally space for your new employee to keep track of things that are sparking ideas. Maybe they see a process that could be improved, or a gap that they could fill. This section is a place for them to document what they see with their fresh eyes, and the two of you can discuss those ideas in your one-on-one meetings and devise a plan for how to address each item. BONUS: It helps you look like a boss who is open to feedback and change (which of course, you are, right?!?) :)
I will probably post again about this tool, as it’s something I’ve used for years. For now though, I wanted to spread the word that it exists and can be downloaded on my website at 30-60-90 Day Plan. I encourage you to download a copy and try it out with your next new hire, and if you do, drop me a comment with your thoughts on how it’s working for you!

Have you ever used a 30-60-90 day plan (either as a manager or as an employee)? What did you think about it? How have you seen them used well and how have you seen them used poorly? Let me know your thoughts & reactions via the comments or a DM!
