How long is that gonna take?

Y’all, I decided to go out on a limb today and post a video instead of writing a blog. This is my first professional video of all-time, and I expect you’ll find a few mistakes (in fact, I know you will- I can tell you exactly where they are). But, I’m hoping to learn more about all the ways I can reach an audience, and I know the only way to do that is by trying… So at the risk of looking completely foolish, I offer to you my first official video!

This video was inspired by conversations I’ve had the past few weeks with clients- it turns out that many of them are facing the same issue: they need to give their bosses estimates for how long something is going to take them to do, and they are struggling with figuring that out. As I talked with each of them about ways to come up with better and better estimates, it hit me that this is something anyone can learn, so I wanted to share it with all of you. These formulas are designed to bring a little science to the art of estimation, and I’ve used them in my own life to help estimate my projects at work and at home. I hope you find them helpful!

FORMULAS

Here are the formulas that I cover in the video, for easy reference.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Are you up for trying a 3-point estimation? Give it a whirl on an upcoming project or task and let me know how it goes in the comments!
