PRO TIP: Percent Complete Updates

This week, I am launching a series of PRO TIP videos, which are all aimed at passing along my very best project management tips and tricks to you, my loyal readers! Each of these videos is designed to be watched in 3 minutes or less, and my goal is that they are both helpful and easy to apply.

For my first video, I’m sharing tips and tricks on how to update the percent complete for unfinished tasks in your project plans, issues lists, or any other type of document where you need to track how much work is done. In my 18 years’ experience, I’ve seen many a project manager get bogged down by the work of updating project plans, and that often happens when people get too granular with their percentage updates. So this week, I explain how to limit your choices and maximize the time you spend working on the tasks to be done (rather than working on updating the plan).

This video works best if you have a project plan (or other document) to follow along with. I have several *FREE* downloads available in my resource library, and I encourage you to grab a tool that interests you so that you can follow along with this video. (I demonstrate using the project plan template, so if you’re wondering where to start, that’s a good one to use).

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Do you have any questions about project management strategies or tools that you’d like to see featured in an upcoming video? Leave me your comments & suggestions below (or via a DM) and I’ll add them into my queue!
